Forces Personnel and Veterans
If you are a veteran of any of H.M. armed forces, you are entitled to certain rights of access to psychological interventions through the NHS. Despite the fact that there are lengthy waiting lists for such services, there is Department of Health guidance that states that veterans should be prioritised for accessing therapy.
Additional government initiatives to improve access to psychological therapies (IAPT) are also starting to come into place. If you are being faced with being placed on a waiting list, this information may help you to access the psychological therapies to which you are entitled. You would be advised to explore these avenues with your G.P. prior to engaging in private therapy.
